There is something deeply symbolic about a pair of school shoes. To a child, they represent dignity, a fresh start, and readiness to take on the classroom. But what happens when a simple pair of shoes becomes a catalyst for lifelong financial independence?
At Money Savvy, we believe that true empowerment goes beyond the basics, it starts with the mindset. That is why we are incredibly proud to announce our partnership with Schoolskoen, an initiative built on a powerful buy-one, donate-one model that puts quality footwear on the feet of children in need.
More Than Just a Pair of Shoes

When you buy a pair of Schoolskoen shoes, another pair is donated directly to a child who needs it most. But we wanted to take that impact a step further. Through our partnership, every single pair distributed now includes a free Money Savvy Kids workbook for parents.
While sturdy shoes help children walk safely to school, our workbooks help them walk confidently into their financial futures. By giving parents the tools to teach their kids financial education and entrepreneurial skills from an early age, we are helping to break the cycle of financial stress and building a generation of money-smart kids.
Scaling Up Our Impact: The Numbers That Matter
The momentum behind this partnership is nothing short of inspiring. We just received an update detailing the massive wave of distribution rolling out over the next few weeks:
- 75 pairs going out to clients this very morning, complete with our special Money Savvy cards packed right in the boxes.
- 500 pairs of brand-new stock heading to Stores in the Western Cape.
- 200 pairs of re-boxed stock also making their way to stores in the Western Cape.
- 140 pairs of new stock destined for Hoërskool Durbanville.
- 100 pairs of new stock going out to various smaller retailers and online orders.
- 1,100 pairs via Softer heading to Liberty Financial Services / Retroviral in Orange Farm for a major corporate CSI campaign.

In total, roughly 2,000 pairs of shoes and 2,000 opportunities to learn are going out to young people and families within the next month.

Seeing the first batch of shoes packed up and ready to go out this morning is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Behind every box going out is a child walking a little taller, and a family gaining access to some of the most important, life-changing skills they can ever acquire: Financial Literacy.
To our partners at Schoolskoen, our corporate sponsors, and every parent and customer stepping up to support this initiative: Thank you.
Together, we aren’t just putting shoes on feet we are putting power in the hands of the next generation. Want to get your hands on a Money Savvy Kids workbook or find out more about how you can support financial education in our schools? kathryn@moneysavvy.co.za
